Business Topics

A. Introductions and Approval of Minutes

The usual round of introductions was made, and the motion to approve the minutes passed.

B. August Events Recap, Treasurer’s Report and Committee Reports

August EventsRecap

Merrill Gardens Car Show

It was a fun event. Good representation from a number of car clubs. The residents enjoyed seeing the Corvettes, but particularly enjoyed the good memories the vintage cars brought back!

Operation Backpack

With the combined efforts of CdeO and the Mustang club, we contributed 106 backpacks; last year our final count was 96—that means 10 more smiling little faces on the first day of school this year. To see a picture of all of the backpacks collected, checkout our Web site!

XXX All Corvette Show and Burger Bash

Held at the XXX Root Beer Drive-In in Issaquah. Meagan reported that it was a bright, sunny day. 10 to 15 different Corvette clubs attended—over 200 cars. Lots of fun!

Open House/Hospitality Day Work Party

Chris reported that it was a wonderful event with over 200 cars participating. A terrific turnout—cars came from all over Puget Sound, and as far away as Spokane and Yakima. In past years, cars congregated in the front parking lot; this year we used the entire second area…and then some. Chris thanked everyone that helped out; it was a successful event. She (as did we all) appreciated the way the club pulled together.

NWACC Autocross

George reported that it was quite a day. We had beautiful weather, and 46 paid entrees which included some dual drivers. One of the cars showed 84 degrees by afternoon. Good comments from people about the course. The course was probably a mile long—from one fence to another. A few people became lost and missed gates—including the designer (George); yes, there were some spinouts—including the son of a club member who spun out 50 feet from the start. People came from Eastern Washington, Portland, Mt. Hood, Classical Glass, British Columbia Corvettes, and the Seattle Marque Club. Thanks to the club for the work and effort.

Rod Run to the End of the World

24th annual event held in Long Beach, Washington. Meagan reported that they couldn’t have had a better weekend. Meagan and Mike were sad to leave. This was the first time in the last three or four years that we had such gorgeous weather. 3-4,000 cars attended. Meagan said it was just so much fun—cruisin’ and nostalgic!

Treasurer’s Report

Denny reported that we are holding our own on money. We are on target on our revised budget. We’re too the good on our year-to-date budget.

Reports from Standing Committees-

Membership (Art)

Up-to-date.

Web site (Art)

Art uploaded pictures from the Hospitality Day in a new format. Some members were having trouble viewing pictures with the new format due to browser incompatibility, so he changed back to the original format, but provided a link to the new format.

Sunshine (Frankie)

Frankie reported that she sent two cards. One to Mark because he parachuted out of an airplane and broke his leg; one to Miranda because she just had surgery

Sponsorship (Peggy)

Although Peggy had nothing new to report, she did remind everyone that our one gold sponsor, Titus-Will Chevrolet, has an Open House sneaking up

Scholarship

Nothing new to report.

Historian (Meagan)

Meagan reported that this function has been replaced by technology. Members are e-mailing pictures that are posted on the Web site, and later saved to disk.

National Corvette Museum (NCM) (George)

The museum has moved forward with taking out a loan and grants. They plan to begin construction; Phase 1 to be completed by the time the caravan arrives at Bowling Green. Every year, the museum raffles off a convertible world wide. A gentleman from Minnesota won a Victory red convertible this year. By chance, he had just taken delivery of a 2008; within a month, he ended up with a second Corvette.

NWACC (George/Meagan)

The next NWACC meeting will be held this Sunday. Another Shelton autocross in October, and a November NWACC banquet hosted by us.

C. Events and Activities

Before Next Meeting

Sept 14 – North Thurston High School Homecoming (Jon)

Jon would like at least two more convertibles. Please let Jon know if you would like to join in the fun.

Sept 15 – Summer’s End Car Show (Randy)

Sponsored by the City of Lacey at Huntamer Park in the Woodland Square Loop area.

Sept 22-23 – End-of-Summer Coast Weekend (Vinnie)

Vinnie announced that we will be leaving at 10 a.m. from Barnes and Noble on the 22nd. For those that want to participate, the second half of the drive will be a lotto run (Vinnie to explain later). We’ll have parking lot games when we arrive and a party at Vinnie’s and Tammie’s suite at 6:00 p.m.

Oct 6 – Titus-Will Chevrolet Open House (Peggy)

Our only gold sponsor has the privilege of having an Open House every year—this year they decided to hold one. To show our support, we would like as many cars as possible to attend. Held from 11 to 2:00 p.m.; food included. .

Oct 14 – Mystery Tour (Randy)

It will remain a mystery for tonight since Randy isn’t here.

On the Horizon

Nov 3 – NWACC Awards Banquet (Peggy)

It will be held at the Chambers House Restaurant at Panorama City. Close to $20 including tax, tips and gratuity. Vinnie will MC and raffle off the prizes. More volunteers are needed to help purchase raffle prizes. In addition to car-related gifts, she would like some girly gifts too.

Dec 1 – CdeO Holiday Party – (Peggy)

Will also be held at Panorama City with dinner at $20 per person. We will still do a gift exchange.

Next Year

Apr 6 ‘08 All-City Rally XXVII Pre-run (Brian)
Apr 20 ‘08 All-City Rally XXVII Rally (Brian)

D. NWACC Banquet

The annual NWACC year-end get together is similar to the CdeO Holiday Party. It is a big social event for NWACC member clubs. Features good food, awards for the NWACC-sponsored autocross events, and a big raffle. We hosted the first NWACC banquet 35 years ago, and will host it again this year. Peggy is the committee chair. If you would like to volunteer, please see Peggy. The entire club can support this event, much like the Open House/Hospitality Day.

E. Other Business

Our meeting space will undergo construction beginning January ‘08. We will need a temporary meeting space for approximately three or four months. Vinnie proposed that we form a committee, and that Brian be on that committee. Motion carried.

Today’s Raffle

Sugar won the August raffle money, but was unable to attend tonight’s meeting. The Club unanimously agreed that the winner of tonight’s raffle money could keep the cash, because Sugar will bring her prize in October. $19.50 went to Jerry with the triple black Corvette.
The meeting was adjourned after the raffle at 8:00. See you at the next meeting on October 10th!
